This is an open call to artists for submissions to the first annual SALON SEVEN hosted by sevengaits project space. This salon style exhibition will be held at sevengaits project space from 7 february 2008 -7 march 2008. In addition to the physical exhibition held at the gallery, a digital archive of all accepted entries will be created.

awards:

sevengaits will grant the following nine awards:

star of the salon: artist receives $700 and an honorary membership ($500 value)

star of invention: artist with most innovative entry receives use of a studio for a month (schedule to be determined by sevengaits and recipient of award--discounted housing also made available) and a stargaiter membership ($250 value)

seven stars: seven awards of sevenaid memberships ($100 value each)

review:

The sevengaits curating committee will review all entries received by digitally projecting each piece. The artists' identities will remain completely anonymous throughout the review process. sevengaits will review all entries by CD only. Do not send original work or email images to the website. All images must be presented in jpeg (.jpg or .jpeg) format at 300 dpi resolution. Artists' names must not be visible anywhere on the image. If your name is visible, your work will be eliminated/disqualified from the review process. By submitting artwork, artists grant sevengaits permission to use all images for promotional and archiving purposes. CDs should be labeled with artists name and contact information and must be accompanied by a completed entry form.

submissions:

All entries must be 7"H x 7"W or smaller including the frame. Each artist may submit up to seven pieces. For each piece entered the cost is $7. Enter five pieces for $35 and your next two entries are free. Any media on (or of) paper is allowed. Three dimensional works must measure within 7" depth.

sales:

All artwork submitted must be for sale. sevengaits will retain a 25% comission on the retail price of work sold. Artists must determine and include the retail price of each work submitted. Once submitted, the price may not change and work accepted must be available for sale during the exhibition. Work accepted may not be removed prior to the end date of the exhibition for any reason.

conditions:

By submitting your art, you agree to all of the details set forth in this prospectus. The artist will not hold sevengaits responsible for any damage caused to the artwork. All work will be handled by sevengaits with care and professionalism but will not be insured. By submitting work unframed, the artist gives permission to sevengaits and its employees to display the work as is seen appropriate (including map/push pins). Artists should include clear instructions for any work that requires special care. Work that sevengaits considers too difficult or too fragile to display will not be accepted. At the discretion of sevengaits, any work submitted that differs substantially from the represented image may be disqualified from the exhibit. It is the artists responsibility to insure the art while it is in transit to and from sevengaits. sevengaits will not be responsible for any damage that occurs to the artwork while it is in transit or on display. Artist must arrange for the return of work, or pick up all work from sevengaits by 21 march 2008. Work left beyond that date will become the property of sevengaits. You agree and confirm that the work you are entering into this exhibition is yours, conceived and created by you. If you are an artist shipping work to sevengaits, it is your responsibility to see that the art is securely packed and received at sevengaits by 1 february 2008. It is also your responsibilty to ensure that the packaging you supply us with for the return of your work is adequate to secure your art and the contents. The artist is responsible for all postage and insurance associated with the return of their work. As this is our first call to artists, sevengaits may amend these terms and conditions for clarification purposes.
